Catechism of the Catholic Church

1296Christ himself declared that he was marked with his Father’s seal. Christians are also marked with a seal: “It is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has commissioned us; he has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”108 This seal of the Holy Spirit marks our total belonging to Christ, our enrollment in his service forever…

Good Shepherd Mission traditionally offers the Sacrament of Confirmation in the 8th grade. Older teens who are interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation should contact the Faith Formation Director at:

Adults wishing to start preparation for Confirmation should contact our pastor, Fr. Anthony Forte at:

Confirmation preparation is a two year program. A teen approaching the spiritual commitment of Confirmation begins by enrolling in the Confirmation program (offered on Sunday mornings 9:30 to 10:45). They attend this program for the duration of their 7th and 8th grade formation years. In the 8th grade year, the candidates for Confirmation participate in mandatory , next step preparation through classes or retreats once a month.

In addition, we will need:

· Baptismal certificate (copy)

· Saint’s name that is chosen by the candidate for their Confirmation name (this may be picked by Jan 1st)

· Completed Godparent Sponsor Form.

To sign up your teen (s) for Confirmation classes, see the Faith Formation tab under Religious Education in the menu above.

The Confirmation retreats will be posted on the website home page and the Faith Formation page. The actual date of Confirmation will be posted as soon as we receive it from the diocese.

Occasionally, special classes/retreats will be offered to Sponsor and teen to participate in together.

We look forward to sharing this Rite of Initiation with your family!
